A real Bell Rope cannot be mass produced on a factory line; it is the work of many years’ experience by a master craftsman, often taking in excess of 400 hours on each creation. The Bell Ropes that DM Fine Art offer to you are the finest and most elegant bell ropes in the World, master crafted by a now retired Navy Lieutenant Charles Thomason. These bell ropes bring art to life in such a vibrant way that unlike a painting, you can reach out and touch it with the added benefit of being able to ring the yacht’s bell.
There are two general sizes of bell ropes that are crafted by Charles Thomason. These are the Captain’s Model and the Admiral’s Model, with other styles and sizes occasionally crafted upon request.
The Captain’s Model Bell Rope
The Captain’s Model is 40 cm long; it reminds me of seeing a Rembrandt when walking through an art gallery in which you think to yourself upon noticing a painting on the far wall, “that is a nice painting”. When you try to continue on your way, your body is not willing, and you must take another look. The closer you begin to gaze, the layer upon layer of detail connects beyond your emotion.
At more than 60 cm long, the Admiral’s Model creates a formidable presence that will inspire awe and respect in every environment. No two bell ropes are ever made the same, just like every painting has its own style and finish; every bell rope has its own personality, creating its own unique formidable atmosphere.
These bell ropes are a work of art and should be treated as such. The location in which the bell rope is displayed adds to the experience. One would not place a great work of art in a cellar, but in a place of significance where it can be studied, contemplated and enjoyed.
Suggested locations and bell types can be agreed upon in collaboration with your interior/exterior designer to compliment and further highlight the grandeur of your mega yacht.
The Admiral’s Model would suit one of the upper stern decks where the guests often sit after their evening meal. The bell can play a meaningful role in the lives of your guests when they engage in the story telling of the day’s adventure, and the frivolities of the night’s celebration are enjoyed. A light hearted game can be played throughout the day that would give a guest an absolute honour to ring the bell. For example, if the guests go out big-game marlin fishing, the winning guest could be bestowed the honour of ringing the bell in celebration.
It can also be used for important announcements, such as the outcomes of competitions and the requirements thereof, which may incorporate the loser formally recognising the winner as a greater fisherman than he himself.
The emotions that this bell rope will invoke in the years after visiting will always associate your mega yacht as the finest vessel to sail the sea.
The Admiral’s Model is perfectly suited for display on the mega yacht whilst your majestic tender is most deserving of the Captain’s Model. If this bell rope is displayed in a prominent position on your tender, it will capture the minds and imagination of your guests, proving to be a very good first impression of the grandeur and refined lifestyle that awaits them on your mega yacht. A Captain’s Model bell rope is the size most often crafted for it is extremely well suited to grace the bell of any mighty ship that sails the sea.
Memento Bell Rope
A smaller memento size bell rope, with a length of 20 cm, is the perfect parting gift for those extra special guests. Master crafted to the same high standards of the larger models, they will be proudly displayed in the corner offices around the world, where your guest will relive their wonderful memories and proudly promote their trophy whenever it shall catch their visitor’s eye.
A memento bell rope may be smaller in size, but the detail and method of craftsmanship leads to much effort being poured into a memento bell rope that is comparable to a larger model. The uniqueness of this bell rope will be so exclusive that not just anybody will be able to get their hands on one.
Memento bell ropes are only available with packaged deals, with optional agreement for ongoing reasonable annual supply.
Legal Bell Rope
By law, every ship has to have a bell. This bell usually hangs toward the bow of the ship where the guests do not normally access, other than as helicopter passengers utilising the forward pad. The crew however will take pride in their bell rope and will take this as their own, to display the excellence and dignity of their vessel and themselves to other passing crews.
This bell rope can be matched to the colour scheme of your mega yacht.
